Walking holidays in Devon

Are you walking the South West Coastpath or the Dart Trail? Here's why you should stay at Raddicombe Lodge

Raddicombe Lodge is approved by Visit Britain to be part of the Walkers Welcome scheme. May 2019/2020.

Recommended by the South West Coast Path Association 2019.

Raddicombe Lodge is two miles from Brixham and Dartmouth in South Devon. The lodge is close to the South West Coast Path, which leads to tucked away coves, harbour towns and estuaries – some of the most superb scenery to be found anywhere in Britain.

We are also close to the River Dart Trail which runs alongside the River Dart from Kingswear, via Greenway and Galmpton towards Totnes. Plus we can suggest six of our favourite walks based from Kingswear. The later being circular routes around coast, river and village.

The lodge is a short journey from Dartmoor, where you are spoilt for choice by the many varied walking opportunities, from the open moorland to picturesque river valleys.

We offer self-guided walking holidays. We provide encapsulated plans of local walks, maps and walking guides and lots of free advice on gentle scenic village and riverside strolls to more adventurous moorland or coastal walks.

April, May and June are our favorite months for walking. Glorious carpets of bluebells and their heady scent, new born lambs running in the fields, walking at this time of year leaves you with a feeling of fresh vitality. What a great time to enjoy walking here in Devon. So why not take advantage of our four nights for the price of three offer. Great value! We would also recommend walking breaks in September when the summer rush is over. The coastline scenery is still full of colour at that time of the year.

Individuals or Walking Groups

We welcome individual walkers, couples, families and walking groups of up to 16 people who can book the entire lodge. For groups of over 10 we can provide evening meals, plus we are licenced so you can enjoy a drink in the evening!

Drop-off and Pick-up Service

Rather than having the hassle of booking different accommodation every night or the need to rush to your next overnight stay - come and enjoy a hassle free walking holiday at Raddicombe Lodge.

You decide which walk or which section to explore, where to start and where to finish. We offer transport in our 7-seater Kia Sorento to the start point after a freshly cooked breakfast and collect you from your chosen end point later in the day (ask for details of costs). If you have a mobile phone you can even call us to arrange a revised pick up point. This takes away the need for round trip walking or the use of two cars. We can also provide packed lunches at £6 per head, saving you the hassle of getting to a suitable lunch spot on route.

Raddicombe Lodge has a private car park at the lodge so your car can be left throughout your stay if you so wish. We have a Kit/Boot drying room where damp kit and soggy boots can dry out overnight.

Suggested pick up and drop off car parks local to us are:

  • Coleton Farm/Brownstone (Access to Inner Froward Point)
  • Coleton Camp
  • Scabbacombe Lane (access to Scabbacombe Sands)
  • Woodhuish Lane (access to Man Sands)
  • Sharkham Point (Access to St Mary's Bay)
